Meat. Bread. Beer. Pint Shop takes inspiration from the original Beer Houses or ‘Tom and Jerry shops’ formed in 1830 following the passing of The Beer Act which allowed anyone to brew beer and sell it in their home for a small fee. The design takes its cues from this era creating a simple and cosy dining room and bar with a relaxed atmosphere.

Wright Brother’s wanted to step away from the stigma that oysters were only to be eaten in expensive restaurants. They wanted to create a neighbourhood restaurant, that was informal and fun with a nautical undertone. The interior palette consists of wooden panelling, marble counter tops and industrial lighting with commissioned artwork of oysters and crab claws. An open kitchen provides a theatrical atmosphere.

As the name suggests The Alchemist’s interior is inspired by the art of Alchemy, setting the scene for their theatrical cocktails and all day dining.
The Alchemist is set within a Grade II listed building in Nottingham’s city centre. The original ornate plaster ceiling and decorative glazed wall tiles had to be retained. To avoid any surface fixings we designed a steel structure to sit within the room allowing the original finishes to breathe. The steel structure became an integral part of the design which wrapped through the space forming the supporting structure for the booths, back bar, decorative screens and lighting rafts.
